Let’s get the weekend off to a calm start!

A calm breath can help ground you and activate your soothing system. A few of these can help instantly, giving you the capacity to pause in self-awareness and then choose the right intervention for you.

That might be a walk, a snuggle under a blanket, it might be enough to stop procrastination or self sabotage and get your work done so you can down tools early today 🙌.

The more practise these the more effective they become.

Don’t just use it when you need it, use it when you THINK you don’t! Banking calm, emptying your stress bucket is always a good thing.

It’s World Menopause Day and it would be remiss

It’s World Menopause Day and it would be remiss of me not to give you some insight into my book if you are someone who may need a bit of practical help, or you need to start preparing…yes preparation can make a difference to your experience.

I wrote this book after years of using these tools with women at transitional stages of their lives. It’s packed with practical tools that you can integrate easily into your life.

Hypnosis tools are not often thought of but they are actually very well evidenced based. For example…around 80% of women see an improvement with hot flushes using hypnosis.

We hear of imagery improving sports performance - so many sports people use hypnosis! But it also works superbly in other areas of our lives, it really is limitless.

All I’ve done is taken these tools and applied these tried and tested tools to aspects of menopause that are really challenging.

I’ve also added some simple self-compassion and mindfulness tools which blend beautifully with hypnosis. In the book I explain clearly how they are different but equally effective.

When did you last feel like this?

Is the question I ask the me I cannot see.

Feelings always begin somewhere, even if they feel foreign, misplaced, out of time or just in the way - they often take root in past experience.

How do you know where they have come from - or what they are? Or what you can do about it?

I feel out of sorts. So I just asked the question.

“When did you last feel like this?”

Immediately a voice inside screamed.

“As a teenager…”

Ahhh, that makes sense. Inner turmoil, new starts, growth, unravelling, discomfort, horizons, change. All mixed in together.

So I asked that wise teenager what to do.

“Walk, and walk and walk. Be in nature.”

And I did, as a teen I used to sit by the Thames in the wilderness near Ankerwyke with my dog in the early hours of the morning as the sun rose.

Now it’s skies, rolling hills, deer and sheep. Still no people, still grounding.

Listen to the parts of you that know, because you do know.

And the more you grow the more you know.

I’m really interested to know what different skills this amazing group of women have.

I’ll go first, mine took me by surprise in my 40’s but it’s my voice, I seem to have a very calming voice and am surprisingly good at recording audio. I narrated all three of my books and my audio outstrips my paper back sales by quite a lot!

I was surprised to discover that my author page was one of the top 10 most visited author pages on Penguin Random House, globally - because of the audio!

Remember, your super power can be be obvious, it may not be so obvious and you can discover new super powers at any stage of life.
